Authority
Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India

The revised MSME classification took effect on 1 April 2025. Investment in plant and machinery or equipment limits moved from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2.5 crore for micro, Rs 10 crore to Rs 25 crore for small and Rs 50 crore to Rs 125 crore for medium. Turnover limits moved from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore for micro, Rs 50 crore to Rs 100 crore for small and Rs 250 crore to Rs 500 crore for medium. The composite investment-and-turnover criterion is retained.

The figures above are read from the comparison table in the Ministry of MSME Year End Review 2025. Private commentary attributes the change to Ministry of MSME notification S.O. 1364(E) dated 21 March 2025 superseding S.O. 2119(E) of 26 June 2020; that notification number was not confirmed on a government page and is therefore not recorded in notificationNumber. Enterprises that had outgrown MSME status should re-check their Udyam classification.
