India's FTA network reaches nine agreements across 38 countries; EFTA TEPA in force from 1 October 2025

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry set out India's FTA position for 2025-26: nine FTAs spanning 38 countries. The India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, signed on 10 March 2024, entered into force on 1 October 2025. The India-UK CETA was signed in July 2025 and the India-Oman CEPA in December 2025. The India-New Zealand FTA was announced on 22 December 2025 and the India-EU FTA on 27 January 2026. A framework for an interim agreement with the United States was delivered on 7 February 2026.
effectiveDate here is the EFTA TEPA entry into force, the only entry-into-force date in this release within the period. 'Announced' and 'signed' are not the same as 'in force' - the New Zealand, EU and US arrangements had not entered into force as at this release.
