Tax Filing & Returns in South Africa

The SARS filing cycle, run end to end. Corporate income tax is 27% for years of assessment ending on or after 31 March 2023, returned annually on the ITR14 within 12 months of the company's financial year-end; a qualifying Small Business Corporation is taxed on a progressive scale instead. Almost every company is also a provisional taxpayer: the first IRP6 is due within six months of the start of the year of assessment (31 August for a February year-end) and the second by the last business day of the year of assessment, with an optional third top-up payment to avoid interest. VAT vendors file the VAT201 per their assigned tax period — most on a two-monthly category, with vendors above R30 million turnover filing monthly — at the standard 15% rate. Dividends tax is 20%, withheld when a dividend is paid and remitted by the last day of the following month.

What we will need from you

Upload these once. They are stored encrypted and reused across every service you buy from us.

  • Annual financial statements for the year of assessment

  • Sales, purchase and bank records supporting the VAT201 returns

  • Payroll and EMP201 records

Where staff or remunerated directors are paid.

  • Dividend declarations and beneficial-owner exemption forms

Where a dividend is declared — exemptions apply (e.g. dividends to resident companies) and a double-tax agreement may reduce the 20% rate for a non-resident beneficial owner.

Cost breakdown

Our fee and the government’s are always separate lines. Government fees are passed through at exactly what the authority charges — we add nothing to them.

Statutory filing fee (ITR14 / IRP6 / VAT201)Tax due is separate from any filing charge. Our research did not confirm from an official SARS page that no filing fee applies, so this is carried as unpriced rather than as R0 — confirm on sars.gov.za. Rates and deadlines: the 27% corporate rate is VERIFIED (SARS Budget 2026 FAQ, unchanged), the two mandatory IRP6 payments plus the optional third are VERIFIED on the SARS Provisional Tax page, the 15% VAT rate is VERIFIED on the SARS VAT page, and the 20% dividends rate is VERIFIED on the SARS Dividends Tax page. The 12-month ITR14 filing rule, the two-monthly/monthly VAT category split and the last-day-of-following-month dividends payment date were not quoted verbatim from a primary page and are re-confirmed at quote.Confirmed before payment
