Trademark Registration in Panama
Panamanian national trade mark (marca) registration with DIGERPI at the MICI. Fees are charged per class: B/.140.50 for the first class (B/.100.00 rights + B/.4.50 inscription + B/.36.00 tasa), covering the first ten years, and B/.112.00 for each additional class; renewal is B/.134.00 per class per further ten-year period. The registration runs for 10 years from the date of registration and is renewable for successive 10-year periods. The application must be filed 'por medio de abogado' — through a Panamanian attorney — and an applicant domiciled abroad must designate a domicile in the Republic of Panama for notifications. Panama is a party to the Paris Convention and, since 2019, the Madrid Protocol, so a foreign applicant can alternatively designate Panama through WIPO's Madrid System; the route below is the national DIGERPI one. The opposition period following publication in the BORPI under Law 35 of 1996 / Law 61 of 2012 was NOT confirmed from a DIGERPI page and is not stated here as a number.
