Panamanian national patent (patente) prosecution with DIGERPI at the MICI. The standard government fee is B/.128.50 in rights, tasa and surcharges, which maintains the right for the first five years; where the inventor is also the applicant and is a natural person, a concession reduces this to B/.12.85 (10% of the standard fee). A foreign applicant must act through a Panamanian law firm or qualified attorney (abogado idóneo) and must designate a domicile in the Republic of Panama for administrative and judicial notifications. A utility model (modelo de utilidad) is the shorter, cheaper alternative route.
