Tax Registration in Oman
Registration of the company with the Oman Tax Authority on the OTA tax portal — every LLC, SPC, joint stock company, branch and permanent establishment must register and file regardless of profit — plus VAT registration where it applies. Corporate income tax is 15% of net taxable income, with a 3% rate for qualifying small enterprises (conditions such as revenues and number of employees). VAT has a 5% basic rate applied to most goods and services, with zero-rating for exports, around 513 essential food items and international transport, and exemptions for financial services and residential rentals; mandatory VAT registration is reported at OMR 38,500 of taxable supplies in a rolling 12 months, with voluntary registration available above OMR 19,250 — thresholds that are consistently reported but were not confirmed from an OTA policy page. Withholding tax is 10% on Omani-source payments to non-residents without a permanent establishment. There is currently NO personal income tax: the Personal Income Tax Law (Royal Decree 56/2025) imposes a 5% flat rate on individual income above OMR 42,000 only from 1 January 2028.
