Tax Registration in Mauritius
Registration of the company with the MRA — as a corporate income-tax payer (15% on chargeable income), for VAT where its taxable supplies pass the compulsory-registration threshold (the standard rate is 15%, confirmed on mra.mu; the threshold was reduced from MUR 6,000,000 to MUR 3,000,000 with effect from 1 October 2025 per secondary reporting, and must be re-confirmed on mra.mu before any advice is given), and as an employer for PAYE and the social contributions if it will pay staff. Voluntary VAT registration is possible below the threshold. Employer contributions confirmed on mra.mu/business/csg: CSG at 1.5% employee / 3% employer where the basic wage is at or below MUR 50,000 a month and 3% / 6% above it, with NSF and the training levy on top. Timelines below are Comriq delivery estimates — the MRA publishes no registration SLA.
