Tax Registration in Sri Lanka

Registration with the Inland Revenue Department for a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and, where thresholds are met, for VAT and the Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL). VAT and SSCL registration is required where taxable supplies / liable turnover exceed Rs 15 million in a quarter or Rs 60 million over 12 months (from 01.01.2024); the standard VAT rate is 18% and SSCL is 2.5% of liable turnover. There is no government fee to register.
