Labour Welfare Fund in West Bengal
Labour Welfare Fund registration and the periodic contribution it requires in West Bengal. Governed by The West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1974 (West Bengal Act XXXVIII of 1974), with the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Rules, 1976; amended by the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2017 and the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2023 (West Bengal Act XI of 2023). Applies where: Ten or more employees working or employed during the preceding twelve months. The statutory wage ceiling that excludes managerial and supervisory staff from the definition of 'employee' was Rs 1,600 per mensem and is raised to Rs 10,000 per mensem by section 2(1) of the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2023, which comes into force on a date the State Government appoints by notification; commercial sources were still citing Rs 1,600 on 14 September 2026, so the commencement notification appears not to have issued or not to be widely reflected. Renewal: Not a licence. A continuing half-yearly contribution obligation. The authority does not publish a fee we could read at source, so the State fee is quoted per engagement and passed through at cost — we never substitute a plausible figure.
