Registration of the premises as a factory and the licence to operate it under the Factories Act 1948 in Karnataka. Governed by The Factories Act, 1948 and the Karnataka Factories Rules, 1969 - rule 5 and Tables A and B thereunder, rule 6 (amendment), rule 7 (renewal) and rule 8 (transfer); Tables A and B are substituted tables, and the Rules were amended by Government of Karnataka Notification No. LD/5/KABESE/2016 dated 11 October 2017. Applies where: Every factory within the scope of the Factories Act, 1948 as applied in Karnataka. The fee matrix itself starts at 'Nil' horsepower and 'up to 20' persons, so there is no fee-free band. Renewal: ANNUAL. The same fee is charged for renewal as for grant. Where a renewal application has been made, the premises are held to be duly licensed until the Chief Inspector actually renews. A licensee may temporarily surrender the licence because of closure during the ensuing year, not less than two months before expiry, to claim exemption from renewal - by post or through e-surakshate. The authority does not publish a fee we could read at source, so the State fee is quoted per engagement and passed through at cost — we never substitute a plausible figure.
