Trademark Registration in Georgia
Georgian national trade-mark application with Sakpatenti. The official schedule is denominated in USD and paid in the GEL equivalent at the prevailing rate: 90 USD for examination as to form in one class (50 USD per additional class), 120 USD for substantive examination, 60 USD for publication and 150 USD for registration, issue of the certificate and the first ten-year period — with a 20% reduction where the application is filed electronically. Registration lasts 10 years from the registration date and is renewable indefinitely in consecutive 10-year periods (renewal 300 USD for one class, filed in the 10th year with a six-month grace period). Any concerned party may bring an action before the Chamber of Appeals within three months of publication in the Bulletin. A foreign applicant without permanent residence or a seat in Georgia MUST act through a registered Georgian patent attorney. Georgia is a Madrid System member, so a foreign owner may alternatively designate Georgia through an international registration.
