A standard online application is £205 for the first class and £60 for each additional class (both rose on 1 April 2026, from £170 and £50 respectively — GOV.UK now states that registering a trade mark costs at least £205); a paper application is £250 for the first class. There is no small-business, startup or individual concession: the IPO applies a single applicant-agnostic fee scale, and the only way to stage the spend is the Right Start service, which splits the fee into an examination-opinion stage and a proceed stage. Registration lasts 10 years from the date of registration and is renewable indefinitely. Opposition runs for 2 months from publication, extendable by 1 month to 3 months on filing a notice of threatened opposition (Form TM7A).
