Notice Response in United Kingdom
Answer a notice from a United Kingdom authority inside the deadline it sets. These are the notice types the research run documented, each with the response the authority actually requires. A deadline the research could not confirm is shown as unconfirmed rather than guessed.
What we will need from you
Upload these once. They are stored encrypted and reused across every service you buy from us.
Companies House identity verification requirement (ECCTA) - Being (or being appointed) a director, PSC or LLP member; and, for existing directors, filing the next confirmation statement
Verify identity via GOV.UK One Login (free) or an Authorised Corporate Service Provider, obtain a Companies House personal code, and provide it for each role. Mandatory since 18 November 2025; existing directors/PSCs must verify within a 12-month transition tied to their confirmation statement (by ~mid-November 2026). Failure blocks incorporation and confirmation-statement filing and risks the company being struck off.
Companies House late filing penalty (accounts) - Filing annual accounts after the deadline
Automatic penalty of GBP 150-1,500 (private/LLP) or GBP 750-7,500 (PLC) depending on lateness, doubled if late 2 years running. Pay or appeal on limited grounds.
Companies House strike-off / proposal to strike off - Failure to file confirmation statement or accounts; company appears no longer to be carrying on business
Respond to the first Gazette notice; bring filings up to date and file objections to prevent the company being dissolved and its assets passing to the Crown (bona vacantia). Confirmation statement default alone can lead to strike-off and a fine of up to GBP 5,000.
HMRC 'notice to deliver a Company Tax Return' (CT603) - Start of a Corporation Tax accounting period / HMRC issuing the notice
File the CT600 (with accounts and computations) within 12 months of the period end; pay CT by 9 months + 1 day. Late filing triggers flat-rate then tax-geared penalties.
HMRC VAT assessment / VAT default - Late or missing VAT return or payment, or an assessment where HMRC believes VAT is under-declared
Under the points-based regime, late returns accrue penalty points leading to a GBP 200 penalty at the threshold, plus late-payment penalties and interest. Respond by filing/paying or appealing. (not verified against the authority's own page)
Trade mark opposition (Form TM7) - A third party opposes within 2 months (extendable to 3) of publication in the Trade Marks Journal
File a counterstatement (Form TM8) within the IPO's deadline, then evidence rounds and possibly a hearing; failure results in the application being treated as withdrawn.
Patent examination report / objections - Search and substantive examination raising objections to novelty/inventive step/clarity
Respond within the period set by the examiner, amending claims or arguing, to put the application in order for grant before the compliance deadline. Extensions may be requested on the prescribed form. (not verified against the authority's own page)
Cost breakdown
Our fee and the government’s are always separate lines. Government fees are passed through at exactly what the authority charges — we add nothing to them.
| Authority fee, where the notice carries oneonly if it appliesA notice fee depends on the notice and the stage it is answered at, and the research records no single published figure. | Confirmed before payment |
| Comriq professional fee | Fixed fee within 1 business day |
