Trademark Registration in Egypt
Egyptian national trade mark application with the ITDA Trademarks Office under IP Law 82/2002 — note that trade marks are administered by ITDA, a different authority from the Egyptian Patent Office. Single-class filing is common practice and the registration runs for 10 years from the filing date, renewable for successive 10-year periods indefinitely. A foreign (non-resident) applicant must generally appoint a registered Egyptian trade mark agent and file a consular-legalised power of attorney; filings are in Arabic and foreign supporting documents need consular legalisation plus Arabic translation. Egypt is a Madrid System member, so a foreign owner may alternatively designate Egypt through an international registration.
