Patent Registration in Cyprus
Cyprus patent protection through the DRCIP Intellectual Property Section — a national patent application (Form Π.9) is €100, and validation of a granted European Patent in Cyprus is also €100. The Cyprus national patent is granted without full substantive examination and runs a maximum of 20 years from the filing date (extendable to 25 for pharmaceutical / plant-protection products via the SPC-equivalent), with annual renewals from the third year. Cyprus is an EPO contracting state, so applicants frequently use the EPO route (and the Unitary Patent, where applicable) instead of a national filing.
