Trademark Registration in Belize
Belize national trade-mark application with BELIPO. The official fee is BZ$475 for the application including the first class and BZ$100 for each additional class (up to four). Registration runs for 10 years from the date of registration and is renewable for successive 10-year periods — BZ$375 before expiry (BZ$425 after expiry), plus BZ$75 per additional class. A third party may oppose within 12 weeks of the first publication of the notice of application, on a BZ$225 notice of opposition; an answer to opposition is BZ$175 and participation in proceedings BZ$350. An applicant whose residence or principal place of business is outside Belize MUST file an Application for an Address for Service together with a notarised authorisation designating a local agent, so a foreign applicant needs Belize-based representation. All BELIPO fees are stated in Belize dollars (2 BZD = 1 USD); BELIPO is the national office and whether Belize can be designated via the Madrid Protocol should be checked on WIPO before advising an international-portfolio client.
