Trademark Registration in Brazil
Brazilian national trade-mark application with the INPI, filed electronically through e-Marcas with a GRU payment guide generated on filing. The fee is per class: R$880 where the goods and services are taken from INPI's pre-approved specification list, or R$1,720 where the applicant writes a free-text specification — and that single payment covers the application, the grant and the first ten-year term. Eligible applicants (natural persons with no stake in a company in the field, microempresas, MEI, EPP under LC 123/2006, empresas simples de inovação under LC 167/2019, ICTs, non-profits and public bodies) pay 50%: R$440 and R$860 respectively. Third parties may oppose within 60 days of publication in the Revista da Propriedade Industrial (LPI art. 158), and opposition costs R$520 per class. The registration runs ten years from grant and renews indefinitely in ten-year periods at R$1,000 per class in the ordinary term. An applicant domiciled abroad must act through an attorney domiciled in Brazil; Brazil has been in the Madrid Protocol since 2019, so Brazil can alternatively be designated through WIPO.

Attorney or agent domiciled in Brazil, for an applicant domiciled abroad
The Brazilian representative must hold powers to receive administrative and judicial service. Cited to LPI (Lei 9.279/1996) art. 217 from general knowledge, not from a fetched INPI page — confirm on gov.br/inpi at quote.
