Trademark Registration in Bahrain
Bahraini national trade mark application with the MOIC Industrial Property Directorate. Bahrain applies the unified GCC Trademark Law — a harmonised law applied nationally in each GCC state, NOT a single regional registration — ratified by Law No. 6 of 2014 with implementing Resolution No. 65 of 2016. The mark is examined, published in the official gazette, open to opposition for 60 days (reported non-extendable), then registered for a 10-year term from the filing date, renewable for successive 10-year periods. A foreign applicant with no domicile or place of business in Bahrain must ordinarily appoint a local registered trade mark agent under a legalised power of attorney; Bahrain is understood not to be an Apostille state, so consular legalisation is generally required. Bahrain also adheres to the Madrid Protocol, so a foreign owner may instead designate Bahrain through a WIPO international registration.
